Dead Gold
I had the chance to quickly play around with some old film stock left over at work. At the time I had been obsessed with museums and how they display organic matter. I wanted to create images that put seemingly ordinary organic objects into an environment that transforms them into something quite precious and valuable.
This also spawned the idea in my head that most things that we value are long dead, or that these things have to die to be valued.
WASP
I had this wasp in a clear pot for a long time. Insects are quite fascinating and horrifying to me. For this set of images, I simply wanted to express a sense of anxiety, almost twitchy movements. I wanted the viewer to be forced to gaze upon the insect in suspense. Insects seem to just mummify themselves in their exoskeletons. If you glance at a dead wasp you can't be sure if it is actually dead. (I still have the wasp in that pot).
